
Chios
- The Chiber card can have up to 16 megabytes of ROM on card, this could be a FLASH ROM which would allow updates to be "flashed" on to the card. Initially, the card will only be supplied with 512Kilobytes of ROM - just enough to hold the Chios Kernel.
- RISC OS would be uploaded to the card from hard drive, or, I assume a ~8Mb ROM chip.
- Chios also has a limited ability to "Multi-thread", ie sharing some of the load with the host processor.
- Chios, apparently, will be able to use the PCI cards installed in the system. This means that cards such as "SoundBlaster32" could be used, opening up a cheap expansion path.
